Let History Transport You®

Following a rich history and continuing the work started by Cape Central Railways in 1893, to complete the railway from Worcester to Voor Bay, Mossel Bay, NCCR was the last privately owned railway line company continuing good working relationships with South African Railways (SAR) for 15 years.

NCCR wanders down the Breede River Valley through some of the richest agricultural regions of South Africa, bringing the breathtaking beauty of this area to travellers with luxury and enjoyment.

The Story

In 1893, NCCR proudly continued the work of Cape Central Railways to complete construction of the railway from Worcester to Voor Bay, Mossel Bay. On 25th July 1907, Mossel Bay was reached despite destruction from war, floods and other transportation challenges.

A Legend Reborn

In 2020, 127 years after the NCCR was formed, Derick du Toit reignited its legacy along the Breede River Valley to Mossel Bay.

Creating opportunities and cultivating potential in the region motivates NCCR to maintain momentum under extreme pressure; pressure and heat used to power a train that changed the trajectory of business in the region.

At NCCR we believe that the potential and vast beauty of the region remains untapped, and we proudly bring trains, people and the beauty of this area together.

“I LIKE TRAINS. I LIKE THEIR RHYTHM, AND I LIKE THE FREEDOM OF BEING SUSPENDED BETWEEN TWO PLACES, ALL ANXIETIES OF PURPOSE TAKEN CARE OF: FOR THIS MOMENT I KNOW WHERE I AM GOING.” -The Unbearable Lightness of Being
